The remains of Lonzo Cross arrived here Monday from Waterloo, where he died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Mercelles. Mr. Cross came to Arlington in the pioneer days, was 86 years of age and has been living with his children of late years. He leaves one son, Charles of Davenport and 4 daughters, Mrs. Eva Jane Taylor, Mrs. John Mercelles, Mrs. Martha Freeman and Mrs. Clara Welch. Funeral was held Tuesday from the M.E. church, Rev. J.D. Ackman conducting the services and interment was made at County Corners cemetery.

David O. Cross was born in West Worthington, Mass., Nov. 7, 1829 and died at te home of his daughter, Mrs. John Marselles in Waterloo, Feb 10, 1918, at the age of 88 yrs., 3 months and 3 days. In the year 1857 he united in marriage with Martha A. Doane at Malta, DeKalb county, Ill, and in 1865 he moved with his family to Iowa, coming to Strawberry Point and later to Arlington. His last years were spent in Davenport, Arlington and Waterloo at the homes of his children. He leaves to mourn his departure, Mrs. John Marselles of Waterloo, Mrs. Henry Taylor, Mrs. John Welsh and Mrs. Geo. Freeman of Arlington, and one son, Charles of Davenport, who went to Waterloo and helped care for his father to the time of his death.
The remains were laid to rest in County Corners Cemetery by the side of his wife who was called to her reward in the year 1877. The body of the deceased was brought from Waterloo to Arlington for burial, where services were conducted by Rev. J.B. Ackman of the M.E. church from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Taylor, Tuesday, Feb. 12th at 9:30 a.m.
