Mrs. Bessie Rathgaber, the only, daughter of Charles and Ida B. Lillie was born at Path Valley, Farnklin County, on Oct. 29. 1881 and departed this life at Oelwein,Iowa on June 4th, 1930. She grew to womanhood in Huntington and Lebanon, Pa., At the latter place she was united in marriage to John M. Rathgaber in 1899. To this union two children were born. In August 1910, they came to Oelwein, where she has lived ever since. She is survived by her son and daughter, Charles Rathgaber and Mrs. D. M. Driscoll; by three grand-children, Donald and Jack Driscoll and Lois Rathgaber, by her father Charles Lillie and by a nephew. Earl Lillie all of whom live in Oelwein and by Mrs. Ben Brightbill, a foster sister, of St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Rathgaber was a member of Grace Methodist church. She was a devoted mother and wife, living her life in a quiet helpful manner. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon June 6th at 2:30 P. M. at the home, 221 S. Frederick Ave. Rev. F. C. Witzigman pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery—Con.
