WAS DEVOTED CHRISTIAN WIFE and MOTHER.Mrs. Abner Lewis, nee Elizabeth R. Vermilyea, was born at Massilon, Ohio, September 10th, 1833, died at Oelwein, Iowa, April 6th, 1916, in the 83rd year of her age. At an early age she, with her parents, moved to Albion, Ind., where she was married in 1855 to Mr. Abner Lewis. In 1872 they moved to Iowa and in 1893 took up their residence in Oelwein, where she has made her home ever since. Eight years ago she was left a widow. She was the mother of eight children, two dying in infancy, J. C. living at Maynard, Iowa, A. E. at Portland, Ore., and Jennie and Mary of Oelwein. There were also two step sons, William of Goshen, Ind., and M. C. who died ten years ago. There are six grandchildren, and one of them, Miss Helen Lewis, has made her home with her grandmother. There are also four great-grand children.
Mrs. Lewis made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of eight and lived a life of earnest devotion to her Lord during all these years. Her love for and loyalty to the church have
been of the highest Christian type. Her beautiful Christ-like spirit drew about her a large circle of friends and all who knew her loved. Funeral notice elsewhere
