After a long and very painful illness Julia Mathilde Brorby, of Clermont, died at her home Sunday morning, May 11, 1930, aged forty-six years, nine months and twenty-three days.

Julia Brorby, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Brorby, was born July 18, 1883, on the old Brorby farm about five miles east of Clermont. There she spent her childhood days and early youth. In 1900 after her father's death, she with her mother and sisters and brother, remaining at home, moved to Clermont where she had since resided. About nine years ago they moved into their present home where she and her sister Anna, cared for their mother up to the time of her death two years ago. Julia had been in poor health for many years and had often been bedfast for weeks at a time, but whenever the severe pains from her illness left her she was up and about as usual. Two years ago she suffered a light stroke of paralysis and had since then never been very active. The last and fatal illness kept her confined to her bed for more than twelve weeks, and death came as a welcome relief.

She leaves to mourn her death, one brother, Joseph, of Clermont, six sisters, namely Mrs. I.H. Skarshaug of Decorah, Mrs. Thomas Olson, Mrs. Oscar Lind, Mrs. O.K. Peterson, Mrs. Henry Skarshaug and Anna Brorby all of Clermont and vicinity, besides a large number of other relatives and friends who mourn the departure of this one so dear to them all.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the home at Clermont and the East Lutheran church of which the deceased had been a lifelog member. Interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church. The pastor Rev. G. Gunsten officiated.
