ARLINGTON - Funeral services for LeRoy Charles Ward will be 2
p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington,
with Kenneth Rahmiller officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery,
Putnam Township, rural Aurora. "*"
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday
and after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ward, 87, died Monday evening, May 11,
1998, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital,
Manchester, after a brief illness.
He was born July 11,1910, at rural Lamont, the
son of Harry and Ruby (Squires) Ward. He attended
Arlington schools and married Donna Evelyn
Oldfather on March 26,1931, in Oelwein. Mr. Ward
farmed near Arlington and Volga for many years. ,
He also was a school bus driver for the Arlington school and had worked
road construction when Interstate 80 was built in Iowa. He enjoyed the
outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorraine Seedorff of Strawberry
Point; one son, William of Porterville, Calif.; seven grandchildren- 11
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother Harold
of Strawberry Point; three half brothers. Dale Rodgers of WestBranch
Bob Rodgers of Randalia, and George Rodgers of Oelwein- four half
sisters, Neola Hartman and Fonda Maser, both of Fayette, Darlene
Flaucher of Oelwein, and Maxine Peters of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna, Nov 16
