Funeral services for Alma D. Klinger, age 95, of West Union, Iowa were held Friday, November 10 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union with Rev. Galen Smith officiating. Interment was in the West Union Cemetery. Casketbearers were Chris Borcherding, Jon Borcherding, Aaron Lang, Steven Klinger, Justin Klinger, and Charlie Downs. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.

Alma Doris, daughter of Garfield and Jennie (Kelly) Downs, was born April 18, 1911 in West Union, Iowa. She graduated from West Union High School in 1930 and worked as a caregiver until she married. On August 27, 1935 Alma was united in marriage with Howard Klinger. Four children were born to this marriage. The couple lived all of their married life in West Union where Howard worked as a carpenter and Alma was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Alma was active in Martha Circle and taught Sunday and Bible School.

Alma Doris Klinger died of age related causes on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard in October of 1970, and two sisters, Blanche Hendren and Edna Mae Downs.

Alma is survived by her children, Allan (Linda) Klinger of Waterloo, Iowa, James (Kathy) Klinger of St. Petersburg, Florida, Anna (Milton) Borcherding of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Anita Lang of Waterloo, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Lawrence (Rita) Downs of Hawkeye, Iowa in addition to several nieces and nephews.
