Funeral services for James M. Hall, formerly of Oelwein, Iowa, and currently residing in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 13 at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa. Rev. Bob Elam officiated. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, Iowa.

James M. Hall was born January 1, 1932 in Oelwein, Iowa to Floyd and Irene (Allen) Hall. He attended Oelwein schools and graduated from high school in Illinois. James was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. On September 2, 1955 he married Velma Lamphier at First Baptist Church in Oelwein, Iowa. James worked at Donaldson's in Oelwein from 1955 until 1980 when he retired due to health problems. He was a longtime Oelwein resident. In 1991 they moved to Harpers Ferry, Iowa. James was a life member of the VFW and a member of Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.

James died Thursday, February 11, 1999 at University Hospital and Clinic in Iowa City, Iowa. He was 67 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margie Dugan and Helen Frye.

Surviving are his wife, Velma; 2 sisters, Margaret Jacobsen of Independence, Iowa and Carroll Strubel of Elk Run Heights; nieces and nephews.
