Everett Paul was born Oct.18, 1891, near Arlington, (Smithfield Township), son of Charles and Anna (Barnholt) Paul. He married Kathren Gantenbein,(daughter of John and Ursula (Haas) Gantenbein), on Jan. 20, 1921, and they became parents of five children. He had farmed in the Maynard area since 1925 until his retirement and for the past three years he had been a resident at Maplecrest Manor in Fayette where he died April 15, 1980.Survivors include one son, Donald Paul of Maynard, four daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Margaret) Sprague of Randalia, Mrs. Alvin (Maxine) Shippy of Hawkeye, Mrs. LaVerne (Betty) Kohlmeyer of Fayette, and Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Nefzger of Dyersville; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon Paul of Strawberry Point.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Kathren; one grandson; one brother, Russell Paul; and one sister, Leta Webster both of California.
Services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maynard. Rev. Ulrich Groth officiated. Burial was in Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard. Hawkeye Booster, April 23, 1980
