Mrs. A. W. Stewart, daughter
of Thomas and Elizabeth
Graham King, died May 19 in
Cedar Rapids after a brief
illness. Janette King Stewart 92,
was born in Scott Township,
Fayette County, March 29, I881.
On June 4,1919 she married A. W.
Stewart and they made their
home on a farm east of Oclwein.
Mrs. Stewart made her home in
Oelwein until September 1972,
when she moved to Cedar Rapids
to live with her sister, Mrs.
Barbara Platt and her niece,
Mrs. Barbara Ard.
Survivors include: a daughter,
Mrs. E. B. (Mary Bess) Shaw, a
son, Alfred Stewart, both of
Oclwein; nieces, Mrs. Laura
Ransom, Belle Plaine; Mrs.
Maxine Peal, Burbank. Cal.; five
grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services were conducted May
22, at Christ United Presbyterian
church by the Rev. Richard B.
Emery, with Mrs. William
Hoffman as organist.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of
Christ United Presbyterian
Church and the Order of Eastern
Star, No. 45, Oelwein.
Casket bearers were: James
Stewart, Dr. Stewart Shaw, Dr.
Robert Shaw, Alvin Stewart,
Richard Ransom and John
Ransom, Interment was in the
Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Hintz Funeral Home was in
