Ricky Karl Wilker
Ricky "Rick" Karl Wilker, 55, Clermont, Iowa, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa. He was born on January 31, 1956, in Postville, Iowa, to Karl and Jeanette (Sass) Wilker. He was a 1974 graduate of Valley of Elgin.
Rick was married to Norma Malcom in April 1977. Two children were born to this union. He later married Lorrie Polhpeter in July 1981. Two children were born to this union. He then met and fell in love with his soul mate Kim Johnson of Clermont, IA in 1995 and were recently engaged.
Rick worked as a prison guard in Fort Madison, IA and then returned to Clermont where he worked as a farmhand for several local farmers. Later, he was employed at GridWorks, Norplex, and Clermont and Elgin Pin Co. In his spare time, he continued to work on farms in the area and raised a few of his own calves. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, camping and farming. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids who called him "Papa".
Survivors include his parents, Karl and Jeanette Wilker, Clermont; fiance & soul mate, Kim Johnson, Clermont; seven children, Nicole (Chad) Wolfe, West Union, David (April) Wilker, West Union, Yvonne (Derrick) Kleppe, West Union, Heather Wilker, Elgin, Chris Fels (special friend, Chas Corbin) Postville, Cory Fels (fiance, Erica Reed) Castalia, Jennifer Johnson (fiance, Derek Schroeder) Elgin; thirteen grandchildren, Joey, Brandon, Raily, Ayden, Tanner, Ashlyn, Dalton, Tyler, Olivia, Layne, Kyle, Thomas, Johnathan and three siblings, Ronna Wilker, Clermont, Renee (Bruno) Ungerer, Hawkeye and Roger (Lisa) Wilker, New Hampton. Along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews
Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Wilker and sister, Robyn Wilker in infancy.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa.
Private Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.
