Clara Helgerson Rites Thursday
Funeral services for Clara H. Helgerson will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matthew Bersagel will officiate. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the East Clermont Cemetery.
Clara Helene Helgerson, daughter of Knudt and Christine (Ostlie) Kittleson, was born April 26, 1888 on a farm in Clermont Township. She died Jan. 16, 1984 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville.
She was baptized as an infant and confirmed Oct. 5, 1902 at the East Clermont Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jacob Tanner. She attended the Clermont School.
On Feb. 23, 1911 she was married to Ansten Nels Helgerson at the home of her parents. To this union two children were born. They farmed in Clayton County until 1947 when they moved to Clermont.
Clara was a lifetime member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church and the ALCW, and a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Clermont.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ansten, who died May 11, 1949, two brothers, Henry and Clifford, and two sisters, Clara Helen, in infancy, and Irene Olson.
Surviving are a son, Arthur and his wife, Esther; a daughter, C. Irene Frieden, all of Clermont; six grandchildren, Dorothy Oliphant, David Helgerson, Carol Madlon, Sharon Helgerson, Diane Klemp and Donna Frieden; six great-grandchildren, Susie Oliphant, Dawnell Helgerson, Kimberly Madlon, George Madlon, Jay Klemp and Jason Klemp and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Martin (Mabel) Amundson and Mrs. Palma Walls.
