Services were held Thursday, November 12 at 1:30 p.m. from East Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, for Julia Helgerson who died November 8, 1970, at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Clarence Johnson officiated.
Julia Gulbranson Helgerson was born in Marion township, Clayton County, Iowa, February 10, 1877, the daughter of Hendrick and Pernallia Gulbranson. Her mother died March 8, 1891, leaving her at age 14 to care for two brothers and two sister, three of them younger than her.
She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran church where she was a lifetime member having held various offices in the church's activity.
June 1, 1898 she married Nels T. Helgerson. She raised and cared for six stepsons, Ole, Tolly, Anstin, Melvin, Louie and Ingwald. All preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin Amundson, Clermont, Mrs. Reginald Walls, Postville and son Harry with whom she made her home. Also, a sister, Mrs. Randina Hanson, and a brother, Gust Gilbertson, both of Elgin, 24 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 20 great, great grandchildren.
Burial was in the East Clermont Cemetery.
