Funeral services were held at the East Clermont Lutheran church, Clermont, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 1971, for Clara S. Helgerson with the Rev. Clarence Johnson officiating. Mrs. Helgerson died Thursday, November 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Everett Schlitter, near Waukon. She had been in ill health for some time.

Clara Sophia Gunderson Helgerson was born July 12, 1886 to Gunder T. and Birgit Kittleson Gunderson at Clermont, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran church.

On November 24, 1906 she was married to Melvin N. Helgerson, son of Nek T. and B. Jeglum Helgerson, at the East Clermont Lutheran church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Clarence, three grandchildren, her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include three daughters, Iva (Mrs. Earl Simpson) Waverly; Elizabeth (Mrs. Larry Aglipag) Palm Springs, California; Lillian (Mrs. Everett Schlitter) Waukon; four sons, Milton, Castalia; Morton, Lake View; Millard, Fort Dodge and Emmett of Englewood, Colorado, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. Oscar R. Larson, West Union.

Burial was in the East Clermont cemetery.
