Died -- J. C. Rosencrans received a dispatch from
Independence yesterday morning conveying the sad
intelligence of the death of his wife. Mrs. Rosencrans
had been in poor health for several months and was
at that place for treatment, and Mr. Rosencrans
received a letter from the doctor Tuesday afternoon
saying she was apparently improving again. She had
been there before and had returned home feeling
much better, and it was only a week ago since, when
failing health again caused her to go down for treat-
ment. The news came with almost crushing force to
the afflicted husband. The deceased was about fifty-
five years of age and had been a resident of Oelwein
for about five years. The funeral services will be held
in the Presbyterian church this afternoon, after which
the remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery here.
The sympathy of the entire community will go out to
the bereaved one in this hour of severe affliction.
