DIED.—Last Thursday, June 9th, at
the home of his daughter at Cumberand,
Iowa, Elder P. W. Hough, aged
87 years. The deceased was born July 8,
1805 in Ontario, Canada. On
March 10th, 1829, he was married to
Miss Sarah P. Van Winkle. Their
union was blessed with eleven children,
six of whom are still living, among
them being S. H., Charley, and Ben,
of this place, and Jesse Hough who
died recently was also one of his children.
Mr. Hough came to this part of
the country at an early day, in 1855,
and for over twenty years resided on a
farm in Oran township. Early in life
he was converted and joined the
Methodist church, but after wards joined
the Advent Christian church and
became a preacher of that faith. He
was well-known in this part of the
State, Dubuque, Cascade and other
points. The funeral services were
held last Friday. S. H. Hough and
Charley Hough, of this place, attended
and helped pay the last tribute of respect
to their loving father.
