Died --- Bruce Roberts, who was born in Oran township
Fayette County, Iowa in 1866, departed this life
March 5, 1889 at Lone Tree, Johnson county, Iowa.
During his lifetime he has lived at Oran, Oelwein and
several other places, where he has been in the employ
of the B. C. R. & N Railway. He was a Christian and died
with the hope of the Christians. Last winter when he
experienced the change of heart he gave his name to the
M. E. church. His sickness has been since December, 1888
and the combined complaints of dropsy and heart
disease finally took him off. Wherever Bruce lived he had
many friends who learned to love and respect him because
of his gentlemanly conduct and congenial ways. He leaves
a father, brother and three sisters and another to mourn his
departure. He goes to join his mother who passed over the
river ten years ago. On Wednesday, March 6th the remains
were brought to Oelwein and the funeral services held in the
Baptist church conducted by Rev. Will W. Carlton, Fairbank.
