The death of George Yolk. Sr.. occurred
in this city Saturday.March 11.
after an illness of several months. The
funeral occurred from the residence
Monday afternoon, Rev. A. R. Toothacre
officiating. Interment in the Oelwein
cemetery. Mr. Yolk was born in
Germany, December 25, 1825. When
27 years of age he came to America,
and soon located in Marion, Illinois.
There he was united in marriage to
Miss Mary Fisher, October 15, 1861.
To this union were born four children.
Three survive the parents, and were
with their father during the last illness.
These are Mrs. Eliaxbeth Handley,
of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Mrs.
Anna McMillan, Cedar Rapids, and
George Yolk, of this city. Mr. Yolk
has resided in this city with his son
for several years. Mr. Volk was well
educated in the mother country, was a
clean, upright man, and many friends
will learn with regret of his death.
He was a charter member of the U.O.T.B.,
a German fraternal organization.
He was in his eightieth year,
and fell asleep, surrounded by his children.
Delegations of the Railway
Carmen,of which the son is a member,
and of tho Loyal Star attended the last
services, and fine floral emblems were
presented by them. The sympathy of
friends is extended to the son and
