Gertrude A. Davis, age 94, of Fayette, Iowa, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Maple Crest Manor Care Center in Fayette, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel, Fayette, Iowa with burial in Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard, Iowa.

Gertrude was born November 20, 1916 near Maynard, Iowa, daughter of Otto and Bertha (Ponsar) Miehe. She graduated from Maynard High School in 1933. She married James A. Davis on March 26, 1938 in Fayette, Iowa. James died October 30, 1981. The couple farmed in the Fayette and Maynard areas until retirement. She worked at Upper Iowa University for several years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Arlene Simpson and Leona Hummel.

She is survived by two sons, James Davis of Oelwein, Iowa and Duane (Ruby) Davis of Fallon, Nevada; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Dione (Roy) Truog of Oelwein, Iowa.
