Isaac J. Bogert 1839-1912

Isaac J. Bogert was born in Hackensack,
New Jersey, March 20, 1839
and departed this life June 21, 1912
He came to Fayette county, Iowa, in
the fall of 1861, locating on a farm in
Smithfleld township. He was married
to Mary C. Mitchell May 20, 1865
To this union were born five children
Mrs. Martin Freeman, Maynard, John
A,, Oelwein, Mrs. T. E. Stranahan
Fayette, Iowa, Everett B., of Oelwein,
and Caswell D., the last named departing
this life December 22, 1909.
The family resided on the farm 12.5
miles northeast of Oelwein in Smithfield
township until nine years ago when
they moved to Oelwein building
a home on North Frederick street.
The deceased had been in failing health
the past year and a half. About April 1st,
feeling that a change would be
beneficial, the home was sold and
Mr. and Mrs. Bogert left Oelwein on
May 7th for Eldorado Springs, MO.,
where he received treatment at the
Iron Springs. On Monday, June 10,
Mrs. Bogert and son J. A. brought
Mr. Bogert home on a sick bed and
everything was done that loving hands
and medical aid could do in his last
illness. All the family were at the
bedside when the end came. He was
perfectly conscious to the last
conversing with the family and bidding
them good bye.
There will be brief services at the home
of Mr. Bogert's son, John A. at 602 First
Avenue East Monday morning, June 24
and further services will be held at the
home of the daughter, Mrs. F. E. Stranahan
at Fayette at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
The services will be in charge of Rev. J. P.
Van Horn.
