Mrs. A. L. (Wilson) LeGrange 1846- 1899

WILSON, GIBSON, LEGRANGE

Mrs. A. L LaGrange passed from this
earth last Thursday, March 16, 1899,
after an illness of about a week. She
had been ailing all winter, but the fatal
sickness did not begin until only a
week before her death. Her maiden
name was Wilson. She was born in
Washington D. C. August G, 1846, and
lived there until nine years of age,
when her family moved to Independence,
this state. January 5, 1878, she
was married to John N. Gibson, at the
residence of her parents by the Rev.
W. B. Phelps, pastor of the First
Presbyterian church. One son was
born by this union, Jesse R., who is at
present a resident of Oelwein, employed
by the Chicago, Great Western Railroad.
Mrs. Emma C. Gibson was
married to A. I. LaGrange at Waterloo,
Oct. 29, 1884. They moved to Minneapolis,
Minnesota, where they lived for
two years, coming to Oeiwein in 1895,
and have since resided in this city.
Three children were born, Ulysses in
July 27, 1885, Stephen Earl and Susan
Pearl April 25, 1892.
The funeral services were held at
the residence Saturday morning, Rev.
Conybeare officiating. The remains
were taken to Independence for interment.
The friends of the bereaved
family have the sympathy of their
many friends in this irreparable loss of
wife and mother.
