FRONT PAGE ...
The home of A. McLeish and wife,
living northeast of the city, has been
darkened with sorrow for a week past,
their only daughter, a charming girl,
having died last Wednesday from the
effects of measles after a brief illness
of only ten days. She was just blossoming
into womanhood, being sixteen
years and eight months old, and
was the idol of the household and
mother's joy. Funeral services were
held at the home Friday and a memorial
sermon preached in the Presbyterian
church at Maynard Sunday,
both services being conducted by Rev.
Conybeare, and both of which wtre
largely attended. She was buried in
the cemetery at Maynard. The family
extend thanks for aid and sympathy
extended to them in the great bereavement
that has come to their home.

Owing to illness in the family a memorial
sermon was delivered by Rev.

community goes out to the bereaved
family. Just budding into
womanhood and the only daughter in
the family, it seems so hard to give
her up. Time alone can soften the
blow. The heavenly Father binds up
the broken hearts and gives them grace
to say: "He knoweth best."Oelwein Register - 6 Apr 1897
