DIED, at the home of his parents
five miles northeast of the city, on
Saturday morning, August 7th, l897,
at the age of 23 years, after an illness
of only two weeks, Carl William
Frederick Rupp. Deceased was born
in Germany February 25, 1874, and
came to this country at an early age.
When I8 years of age he was confirmed
in the Lutheran faith at Earlville,
Iowa. He was a young man who
was highly respected. The funeral
services were conducted at the Presbyterian
church Monday afternoon in
the presence of a large congregation,
and Rev. Zeilinger, of the Lutheran
church preached the sermon, speaking
in both English and German. The
Modern Woodmen Lodge, of which he
was a member, had charge of the
services and were assisted by craftsmen
from Hazleton, Stanley, Maynard
Westgate and Fairbank, there being
