DIED.—At the home of her sister
in this city, Friday evening, September
17th, Mrs. Jessup, aged 70 years.
Nancy A. White was born in North
Carolina, January 30, 1827. She
moved to Ohio in early childhood,
thence to Indiana, where at the age
of 25 years she was united in marriage
to John Jessup. Sometime during
the war, herself and husband made
the overland trip to California, stopping
in San Francisco two years and
then going to Oregon where she resided
twenty-two years. Six children
were born to them, all of whom, together
with her husband have proceeded
her to the other world. About
nine years ago she moved to Chicago,
and last March came to reside with
her sister, Mrs. Jane Toney. For
many years she was a member of the
Presbyterian church, but after going
to Chicago she united with the Christian
church, and on coming here united
with that denomination. She died
in the faith, relying on the promises.
She was ill for six weeks and a great
sufferer. The funeral services were
held in the Christian church Sunday
afternoon, being conducted by Revs.
