Mrs. Mary Starks died at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Lawrence,
Tuesday morning at an advanced age.
She suffered a stroke of paralysis last
Sunday and never rallied from its effects.
Deceased was born in Edinburgh
December 6th, 1814. Her maiden
name was Mary Jane Morgan and
she was married to Allen Starks in
1834. Five children were born to
them, four of whom are now living, a
son and daughter here, a son in Wisconsin,
and a daughter in Indiana,
who was unable to attend the funeral.
They moved to Wisconsin in 1855
where they resided until 1877, when
her husband died and she came to
Oelwein to live with her daughter.
After her husband's death she became
converted and joined the Baptist
church. The funeral services were
held yesterday afternoon at the Baptist
church, being conducted by Rev. D. D.
Mitchell.
