Yesterday Mrs. C. F. Chambers, whose death was
noted in these columns Monday, was buried in the
cemetery at West Union, the funeral services being
attended by many old friends and relatives. Mrs.
Chambers is the mother of C. B. Chambers, president
of the First National Bank of Oelwein and had many
friends here who became acquainted with her during
her long life in the county and frequent visits to
Oelwein. Her son Charles and daughter Catherine
who taught in the Oelwein public schools but now in
the Clear Lake schools, have a host of friends who
extend to them their sympathy during this affliction
of sorrow. The bereaved husband, who held county
office for a number years at West Union, also has the
sympathy of all in his bereavement. The following
obituary appeared in the West Union Argo-Gazette
this morning:

Mrs. C. F. Chambers, 75, died Monday in Mercy
Hospital, Oelwein, where she had been taken only the
Friday before. Mrs. Chambers had been ill for a year
and for months past was known to be in a critical
condition, suffering intensely much of the time. She
spent a long period in the Oelwein hospital, then
returned to her home here some months ago.

She was born on a farm in Dover township, two miles
north of West Union, as Esther J. Rosier, the daughter
of George N. and Alice J. Rosier, who came to Fayette
county in 1852. With the exception of three years
beginning when she was seven years old, spent in
Missouri, this community was her lifetime home.

She was married to Charles Fremont Chambers
November 20, 1881, they living together past their
fifty-fifth marriage anniversary. Her husband survives,
as do their children, Charles Blaine Chambers,
president of the First National Bank of Oelwein and
Catharyne Chambers, principal of the high school at
Clear Lake.
Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters; C. R.
Rosier, Los Gates, Calif.; A. S. Rosier, Merwin, Mo.; Mrs.
D. B. Stewart, Columbia, Mo. and Mrs. J. M. Gentry,
Kansas City, Mo. None of the brothers or sisters were
able to come to the funeral.

Her husband is one of the most widely known men in
Fayette county, having served as county recorder and
county auditor for extended periods and twice holding
the postmastership of West Union.

The funeral services were conducted Wednesday, from
Presbyterian church by the Rev. George Fisher. Interment
was in West Union Cemetery.
