Mrs. Pauline Marie Kuhrke whose
maiden name was Buelow, was born
February 2. 1844, near Nakel in the
Prussian Province of Posen. Here she
attended school and was confirmed at
the age of 14 years. In 1859 she was
married to August Kelm. Their union
was blessed with six children of which
one died in infancy. 1868 they came to
America. Until 1892 they lived in Buchanan
county, coming from there to
Oelwein. After nearly forty years of
a happy union her husband died December
3, 1898. October 9th, 1901, she
entered into a second marriage with
Henry Kuhrke.
She was a faithful member of her
church. In sickness and other troubles
she was sustained by a childlike
faith in the savior. Two weeks ago
she became ill suffering from serious
stomach troubles. In spite of all that
loving care could do for her she gradually
failed. She seemed to realize
from the first the seriousness of her
condition and prayed for a blessed end
which came Saturday, Mfarch 29, at
about midnight.
The last services were held Tues-
4 sons, Gustav, Emil, August and
Henry Kelm and one daughter, Mrs.
Emilia Jacobs, 21 grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren, also one
brother and one sister. Her age was
69 years, 1 month and 27 days.
The last services will be held Tuesday
from the church at 1:15 p. m
Rev. Frederick Zimmerman officiating.
