Funeral services for Amy H. Hovland were held Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1982 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. The Reverend Kim Peterson officiated and the Reverend Leif Kirkegard of First Lutheran Church, Manchester, gave the sermon. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.
Amy H. Hovland, daughter of Ole and Hilda (Ostlie) Aanes, was born Feb. 3, 1892 near Clermont at the Aanes' homestead. She died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1982 at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Iowa.
She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church and attended the Clermont public schools.
On Oct. 16, 1913 she was married to Louie M. Hovland and together they raised their niece, Margaret Sticken Lind. Louie and Amy lived on a farm north of Clermont until his death on July 30, 1960. She then moved to Clermont where she cared for Oscar Lind until his death. She lived in that home until March 1982. For the past six months she has lived with Marion and Margaret Lind in Manchester and then at the Good Neighbor Home.
She was active in various groups in her church, the Woodland Club, the Birthday Club, and Senior Citizens.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Dr. Almer Aanes and Elliot Aanes, and two sisters, Alma, in infancy and Clara Aanes Halverson Sticken.
Surviving are her foster daughter, Mrs. Marion (Margaret) Lind, Manchester, Iowa, and her children and their families, George Lind of Goshen, Indiana, Robert Lind of Roseville, California and Mrs. John (Jean) Brenkman of Madison, Wisconsin, her brother, Lloyd Aanes of Clermont and many nephews and nieces and friends.
