Anthony Nicholas Borach, a native
of Russia, was born Feb. 15, 1884
and died at University hospital
in Iowa City, March 16, 1950, after
an illness of six weeks. He was 66
years old.
In the year 1912, Tony came to
America, landing in New York
City, N. Y. He lived in various
places including Philadelphia, Pa.,
and Chicago, Ill. He came to Oelwein
in the summer of 1929 where
he had made his home since.
He was employed as a farm
worker by several farmers of the
Oelwein vicinity, and for the past
10 years was employed by the
Chicago Great Western railroad
in the- store -department.
Although Tony had no living
relatives in America, he had made
many friends in this country.
Funeral services were held at
2:00 p. m. on .Wednesday, March
22, from the Hintz Funeral home
in Oelwein. Rev. LaVerne Ervin,
pastor of First Church of Christ,
officiated. Burial was in Oakdale
cemetery.
