Charles W. Borchert 1874 - 1906

Chas. W. Borchert was born in Germany
November 31, 1874, moved to
America at seven years of age and resided
with his parents at Oconto. Wisconsin,
till fifteen years old. He attended
the public schools when he began
to work for his living in mercantile
establishments. He took employment
in the Milwaukee hospital for
eight years, after which he went to
work in the West Milwaukee shops as
a machinist. Four years ago he went
on the road as locomotive fireman and
passed his examination for engineer
just two weeks before his death. He
was baptized in infancv and confirmed
in the Lutheran church in Oconto;
later joining the English Lutheran
church in Milwaukee. May 23, 1900
he was united in marriage to Annetta
Walters at Independence, Iowa. He
leaves beside his widow to mourn his
death, two children and a sister, Mrs.
H, Rosenfeldt, of Ocanto.
His genial manner won for him many
abiding friends. His sudden, accidental
death makes many mourn his departure
from earth at the prime of life.
