Adolph Becker was born June 4th, 1868 near
Verona, Illinois and soon afterward was baptized
in the name of Triune God. His parents were John
Becker and Minnie Becker with whom at an early
age he came to the vicinity of Oelwein, where he
grew to man hood. Later he was employed as clerk
in a store for a number of years following that
occupation in New Hampton.
Mr. Becker was not married. His parents both
preceded him in death. When about 20 years ago
he suffered a partial paralytic stroke, he found a
home with his brothers, where he was well taken
care of. For a number of years preceding his death
he remained at the home of his brother John just
west of Oelwein and it was here that he departed this
life early Monday morning, March 17th.
He leaves his three brothers, Christ Becker and John
Becker of Oelwein and George Becker of Cedar Rapids
with their families to mourn his departure. His age
was 62 years, 9 month and 13 days.
The funeral service was held this afternoon at the
Ridler-Whalen-Brant funeral home on North Frederick
Street and was conducted by Rev. F. H. Voelker, pastor
of the Lutheran church. Interment was made in
Oakdale Cemetery.
