Funeral services for Roy Halverson were held Saturday, March 13, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at Illyria Community Church, Elgin, Iowa. Rev. Richard Ktetzchmar officiated. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery. Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Douglas Child, Donald Child, Mark Ash, Kelly Wanter, Kim Wander, and Kyle Wander.

Roy Arthur Halverson, son of Nells and Pearl (Kimball) Iverson *See Note below*, was born January 17, 1920 at Clermont, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. He graduated from the Clermont High School in 1937. He was a member of the Illyria Community Church. He married Betty Wander in 1954 at Clermont. They had 6 children. In his earlier years, Roy resided and was employed in South Dakota for a time. He returned to the home farm where he still resided and began farming. He later worked at Hall Roberts' Son Inc. in Postville, Iowa until he retired in 1986. He died at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Wednesday morning, March 11, 1987 at the age of 67.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; 2 daughters, Mrs. Gary (Barbara) Blockhus of Clermont, Iowa, and Jill Halverson of Calmar, Iowa; 4 sons, Roger Halverson of Clermont, Iowa, Bruce Halverson of Urbandale, Iowa, Allen Halverson of Kalispell, Montana, and Michael Halverson of Ft. Atkinson, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. George (Marian) Child of Aurora, Iowa.

Note: The 1925 Iowa Census Roy Halverson is listed as living with Pearl Kimpel - (sp) and Gerhald Halverson.(Connie Ellis)
