Funeral services for Nora M. Loftsgard were held Sunday, October 26, 1986 at 3 p.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. David Johnson and Rev. Harriet Danielson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa. Casket bearers were Millard Nelson, Jr., Kenneth Nelson, Terry Becker, Lewis Wolfs, Jerry Wilbur, and James Nelson.

Nora Mathilda was the daughter of John and Isabel (Nelson) Nelson. She was born April 15, 1903 in Fayette County, Iowa. She died Friday on October 24, 1986 at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, Iowa. She was baptized May 10, 1903 at the East Clermont Lutheran Church. On May 27, 1917 she was confirmed at the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. She attended Fayette County schools and also the Clermont Public High School.

On November 30, 1920 she was married to Theodore N. Loftsgard at the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. They had 4 children. They farmed in Clayton and Fayette Counties before moving to Clermont in 1937 where they farmed until retiring and moving to West Union, Iowa in 1966. Nora moved to Elgin, Iowa in 1982. She was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and the ALCW. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of which she held many offices.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore who died March 4, 1972, a son Milton in infancy, one brother Will J. Nelson and one sister, Edna Nelson.

Surviving are one daughter, Annabelle J. Flores of Des Moines, Iowa; 2 sons, C. Dean Loftsgard and his wife Mary of Franklin, Tennessee, Wendell Loftsgard and his wife, Marilyn of Monmouth, Oregon; 4 brothers Arthur Nelson of Decorah, Iowa, Millard Nelson and Joe Nelson, both of Clermont, Iowa, and Elmer Nelson of Cochrane, Wisconsin; and 4 sisters, Rose Maurer of Fayette, Iowa, Amy Meyer of Clermont, Iowa, Ethel Wilber and Irene Wolfs, both of West Union, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, in addition to many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
