A funeral mass for Frank Horan was held Friday, September 4, 1987 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Paul Otting officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the church cemetery. Lectors were Pat Makovec and Dave Katsumes. Carol Katsumes was the organist and Art Amundson was the soloist. The Mass servers were Mike Makovec and Patrick Finnegan. The gift bearers were Garyy Makovec and Mark Makovec. Casket bearers were Howard Stumme, Dennis Rear, Veldon Orth, Sylvan Taylor, Daryl Sampson, and Jack McNeil.

Francis "Frank" William Horan, son of Lawrence and Anna Francys (Raftis) Horan was born June 18, 1937 in Clermont Township, Fayette County, Iowa. He died Tuesday, September 1, 1987 at his home south of Castalia, Iowa. He attended the country school near his home until second grade, then St. Peter's Catholic School until eighth grade and graduated from the Clermont High School in 1955. He married Marlene Schmidtke, February 20, 1969 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. They had 3 children. They farmed in the Clermont area. Frank also did drywall work.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Horan who died in 1980.

Surviving are his mother, Francys Horan of Clermont, Iowa; his wife, Marlene, a son Stephen Horan, 2 daughters, Staci and Sondra Horan, all at home; and a sister, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Makovec of Nevada, Iowa.
