Winefred V. Mincemeyer 1903 - 1971

Winefred V. Mincemeyer, daughter of Elias Deyo and
Etta Ball, was born July 8, 1903 at Oelwein. She grew
up in this community, receiving her education at the
Oelwein community schools and graduating in 1920
from the Cornbelt Business College in Oelwein.

She moved to Clarion where she was employed as a
stenographer to the claims agent of the Chicago
Great Western Railroad. She returned to Oelwein in
1927 and was employed by the railroad here for two
years before moving again to Clarion.

She was married to Benjamin W. Mincemeyer
September 21, 1930 at Clarion. Following her husbands
death in 1939 she returned to Oelwein and was
employed in the office of the railroad for 31 additional
years.

Mrs. Mincemeyer had just retired from the office on
March 31, 1971. Her death came suddenly in the
evening of Thursday, April 1, at her home.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gladys McCreery,
with whom she made her home in Oelwein; a niece
Mrs. T. C. Anderson of Delta, Iowa; two nephews,
Colonel James Deyo of Dayton, Ohio and Dan Deyo of
South Holland, Ill. and other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
three brothers and two sisters. Services were held
Monday, April 5, 1971 at Hintz Funeral Home with
the Rev. Warren Paige officiating. Casket bearers
were Curt Thiele, Bill Vaughn, Howard Sorenson,
Clair Morrill, Al Krausman and Tom Michener. Burial
was in the Oakdale Cemetery of Oelwein.
