Ray Ball 1875 - 1932

Ray Ball, a former resident and a barber here
for a few years, died last Sunday. Ray Ball was born
at Strawberry Point November 12, 1875 and died at
the home of his father-in-law, N. Bower, at Edgewood
Sunday, May 15, 1932, aged 56 years. The greater
part of his life was spent in Iowa, save for three years
in Montana and the last four years in Illinois. On
August 23, 1901 he was married to Miss Lleuella
Bower. Three children were born to them, two sons,
Harold and Don and one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Darrow,
all of Chicago. Mr. Ball's father, two brothers and three
sisters have preceded him in death. Besides his widow
and children and four grandchildren there remain to
mourn his death, his aged mother, Mrs. Catherine Ball
of Oelwein, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Heering of Oelwein
and Mrs. Charles White of Salem, Oregon. The funeral
was held Tuesday at the Rosen Kraus school house near
Edgewood, with Rev. T. Richardson Gray, pastor of the
Edgewood Congregational church in charge. Burial was
in Greenhill cemetery.
