Mrs. William McSweeney passed away at her home at

an illness of several months. The last services were held
from the home at 8 and from Sacred Heart church,

which they immediately came to Fayette county, Iowa,
near what is now Westgate. They bought their farm land
from the government and lived in the prairie schooner
in which they traveled, drawn by an ox team, until the
log house was built.

In this log cabin were born her ten children, Mrs.
M. T. Riordan of Hazleton, Mrs. J. N. Kolb, Mrs. W. J.
Brennan and Mrs. James Quinn of Oelwein, John,
Edmond and Peter McSweeney of Oelwein, William of
Westgate, Frank of Minneapolis, Minn., and James who
resides on the old homestead near Westgate.

She is also survived by one brother, Mr. B. McGuire of
this city, all being at the bedside of their mother during
her last illness.
