Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Anderson, Mrs. Jessie Triem and Mrs. Clara Gress went to Oelwein Tuesday of
last week to attend the funeral of Anthony Kern. Mr. Kern was born on a farm near Elgin, June 14, 1888. He spent several years in Clermont working in Tonjun's store and later at the brick yard. In 1908 he was married to Kitty Dibble and the family moved to Oelwein in 1911. At the time of his death he had been with the Chicago Great Western railroad of that city for a period of thirty years, serving as a blacksmith. Besides
his widow he is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth (Mrs. John Lippert), and Delores of Oelwein, Luella (Mrs. Frank Robinson) of
Shenandoah, and Marguerite (Mrs. George Cashara) of Los Angeles, Calif., also three sisters, Mrs. John Johnson and Mrs. E. A. West of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. John Dixon of Los Angeles, Calif.
