Services for Arlo C. Dean, age 84 will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday March 31 at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home in Waterloo, Iowa with burial Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, Black Hawk County. Mr. Dean died of a stroke, Friday evening, March 28, 1987 at Covenant Medical Center at Kimball Avenue.

Arlo was born July 19, 1902 in Fayette, Iowa, son of Grant and Myrtle (Wilson) Dean. He married Anna Duwa January 19, 1924. She died in 1934. He married Flora Boyd on March 1, 1947 in Eldora, Iowa. He farmed in Fayette County until 1942 after which he was employed by Rath Packing Company until 1967.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margaret Shortly of Eldora, Iowa and Celena Mae Heartline of Waterloo, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a sister, Velma Dean of the Cedar Falls Western Home. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy, and three brothers, Floyd, Roy, and Donald Dean.
