Alois Strawn, son of John and
Katherine Kapler Strawn was
born November 12, 1893 in Smithfield
Township, Fayette County.
He died July 4, 1972.
He was a lifetime resident and
farmer in the Arlington area; He
served in World War I from May
27,1918 to June 14,1919; He served
in France with the United States
Army in 1918 and 1919.
He was married to Pauline
Livin on March 2, 1933. They had
three sons.
Funeral services were held
July 6, 1972 at Arlington with
burial in Floral Hills Memorial
Gardens, Oelwein. The Rev.
William Follmer officiated.
Pallbearers were Lowell
Dallenbach, Glen Davis, Ernest
Eden, Duwain Rau, Arnold Suhr
and Leslie Yearous.
He was preceded in death by
his first wife, Gertrude Livin, his
parents, one brother, Loren and
one sister, Alice.
Survivors include his wife
Pauline; three sons, John of
Cedar Rapids, Ronald serving in
the Air Force in Colorado
Springs, Colo., and James at
home; three sisters, Mrs. Rose
Young and Mrs. Frances Stoll of
Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Thal
(Delia) James of Hazleton; one
brother, Clarence of Louisville,
Ky., and four grandchildren
