Karl Green Jr.

Karl Green Jr., 63, Elgin, Iowa, died Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was born on July 12, 1947, in rural Elgin, Iowa, to Karl and Carrie (Barr) Green. He attended Elgin High School.

Karl was united in marriage to Joyce Heins on February 18, 1973, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was the proud father of three children. He worked for Richard Jensen near Elgin for eight years, Torkelson Pump Co. for fifteen years, and Green's Digging Service for eight years.

When Karl was able to, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to his scanner, spending time with his dogs, visiting with family and friends, especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren, fixing whatever was broken. (It always seemed like he was able to fix anything.) He really liked making things out of wood. One of his bigger projects was his cabin that he really loved staying in.

He was the type of guy that you could sit down and have a couple of drinks with, talk about your problems with and when you left you always left with a smile. He was loved by many and he will never be forgotten.

Survivors include his two daughters, Gina Heins, Postville, Donna Green, Clermont; one son, David Green, Elgin; three grandchildren, Emma and Kole Heins, Ava Christen; one sister, Frances (Richard) Pritchard, Garber; one brother John Green, Maynard, and many nieces and nephews.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Green on July 11, 2008; paternal and maternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Florence Mueller and sister-in-law, Esther Green.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Steve Brackett will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa, and one hour before services at the funeral home.
