Patricia Lucille Butikofer

Patricia "Pat" Lucille Butikofer, 81, Clermont, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was born on September 27, 1929, in rural Clayton County, Iowa, to Charles and Doris (Hader) Erickson. She graduated from Elkader High School in 1947. Following high school she received her teacher's certificate in Dubuque, Iowa.

Pat was united in marriage to Silas Butikofer on September 27, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Six children were born to this union. Pat helped Silas on the farm and raise their six children. She worked at Elkader Wire Factory and Iowa Turkey Products. When they moved to Clermont, she loved working at Montauk. She enjoyed reading books, history, baking and cooking. She was involved in various groups and organizations in Clermont and at the Highland Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Silas Butikofer, Clermont; six children, Dale (Maureen) Butikofer, Aurora, CO, Bradley (Diana) Butikofer, Marion, Diane (Rodney) Wagner, Clermont, Steven (Carol) Butikofer, Randalia, Kathy (David) Mezera, Stoddard, WI, Bruce Butikofer, Clermont; thirteen grandchildren, Christa Bishop, Cara Diederich, Crystal Nicholson, Dawn Walton, Stephanie Wilkins, Nathan Wagner, Amanda Mezera, Elliot Mezera, Austen Butikofer, Nicholas Butikofer, Michael Butikofer, Tina Kerner, Billie Tope; six great-grandchildren, Gavin Wilkins, Kyle Nicholson, Ethan Nicholson, Marc Nicholson, Isabelle Kerner, Cameron Kerner; two sisters, Sheila (Fred) Knoke, Elkader, Pam Armstrong, Denver, CO and three brothers, Dennis (Ann) Erickson, AZ, Jerry (Carol) Erickson, Cedar Rapids and Chuck Erickson, Rockford, IL.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Norma Palas, Leslie Erickson and Eugene Erickson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Elgin Lutheran Church in Elgin, Iowa. The Rev. Jerome Godson will officiate.

Burial will follow in Highland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Elkader, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Elgin, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
