William Archer Strawn 1850 - 1926

William Archer Strawn was born
the 18th day of February 1850 near
Rockford, Illinois, where he grew to
manhood and on Nov. 27, 1876 was
united in marriage to Nellie B. Recoy
and in the following year they
came to Fayette county, Iowa, where
they made their home which was
blessed With eleven children.
Mrs. Strawn proceeded him in
death Oct. 16, 1903 also two children
having died while young.
He passed away at the home of his
son C. F. Strawn of Arlington where
he had made his home for more than
a year on July 31, 1926 being seventy-six
years, six months and twelve days old.
Those left to mourn, his passing are
the nine children: Jessse LeRoy of
Oregon, Alfred Lee of South Dakota,
John W. of Arlington, Ross of Wisconsin,
Cora of Stanley, Clare of Arlington,
Vern of Stanley, also his
two sisters Mrs. Margaret Moat, of
Illinois, Mrs. Emma Shelton of Colorado
and one brother, John Strawn
of Oelwein, twenty-six grand children
and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held and burial
was made at the beautiful Union
church and cemetery, Aug. 3, 1926.
The service being conducted by the
United Brethern minister of Wadena,
Stanley A. Birdsall.
