Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, 1989 at 11 a.m. for Delbert LaVerne Belschner, who died August 7, 1989 at his farm home south of Luana, Iowa. Pastor Ted Ager conducted the services held at St.John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. Burial was in the Hawkeye Cemetery with military rites. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 22, 1925 to Herman and Minnie (Boettcher) Belschner at Hawkeye. He attended school at Hawkeye, graduating in 1944. He served in the Army during WWII. He had farmed since serving in the Army, the last 27 years on a farm south of Luana. On August 18, 1956 he married Sylvia Harriet Hammersland at Stavanger Lutheran Church in Ossian. He was a member of St. John's Church in Luana.

Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Carla Anne Belschner of LaCrosse, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Casket bearers were John Lalk, Tony Pieper, Russell Granneman, Eugene Henn, Joe Donlon and Howard Muhlenbruch.
