Wayne L. Durscher

Funeral services were held April 1, for Wayne Durscher, of West Union, in the West Union Zion Lutheran Church. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont. Schutte's Clermont Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne Leonard Durscher, son of Walter and Clara Lydia (Yunker) Durscher, was born September 4, 1920 at Rock Valley, IA. He was baptized in September of 1920 at Rock Valley and was confirmed in May of 1933 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended a country school near his home at Elgin.

On April 2, 1959, he was married to Anna Helen Yauslin at the United Methodist Church in Oelwein by the Rev. Green. Both Wayne and Anna became members of the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union in 1959. Wayne was a car salesman for many years, working first at the West Union Motor Company and then for eleven years with John Falb & Sons in Elgin. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. He had been a member of the American Legion in West Union and the Masonic Lodge.

Wayne L. Durscher died Sunday, March 29, 1992 in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City.

He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Durscher.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; his mother, Clara Durscher, West Union, a stepson, Leslie Hitch, West Union; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Parker, Cincinnati, Ohio; two children from a previous marriage, John Wayne and Jean Eileen; two sisters, Mavis Dummermuth, Elgin and Neva Jean Anderson, Denver, CO; and four grandchildren.
