Services for Lenora Shipton who died December 13, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Center, West Union, Iowa were held December 18 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church with burial in the God's Acre Cemetery, Clermont. Rev. Donald Loots conducted the services. Pat Butikofer was the organist and soloist was John Falb. The Schutte Funeral Home in Postville was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were John Shipton, Steven Shipton, Mark Shipton, Louis Christen, LaVern Stumme and Franklin Olson.

Lenora was born March 12, 1901 on a farm in Clayton County, near Postville to George and Augusta (Foels) Oldag. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended the Postville School and graduated in 1918. She attended the University of Iowa. She taught in the Clermont Grade School for a year. She married John Bogus Shipton at Postville on July 14, 1920. They had four sons. She was employed for many years at the Clermont Public Library. She was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and its women's organization and was the Sunday School Secretary. She taught Bible School for many years.

She is survived by three sons: Charles of Eldorado, Iowa, G. Franklin of Pleasant Hill, CA, and Oran, of Deerfield, IL; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John who died July 5, 1959; a son, John; three brothers, Henry, Ed, and Otto Oldag; three sisters Mrs. John Schrader, Mrs. Art Schultz, and Mrs. Will Willman.
