DEATH OF JOHN BORLAND

John Borland of Oelwein died at 4:30 yesterday
morning in a hospital at Waterloo. He had submitted
a few days ago to a surgical operation by which a
cancer was removed from his stomach and it had been
known for some days that his death was approaching.
Mr. Borland was forty-six years of age.

Mr. Borland was survived by his wife and eight
children. Howard is a student at Upper Iowa University;
Marion resides in West Union; Hardy at Madison, Wis.;
and Johnny, Nancy, Inez, Mabel and Harry are at home
with the parents.

Mr. Borland resided in the West Union vicinity for many
years, engaged in farming. When his health failed less
than a year ago he gave up farming and moved to Oelwein.
