H. K. Johnson, whose death occured
Wednesday, December S, 1890,
was born in Rochester, Monroe Co.,
New York, November 14, 1824, and
there grew to manhood. May 15,
1848 he was married to Miss Sarah
Minkler. They removed to.Illinois in
September 1854, and settled upon a
farm. In April 1859 they came to
Iowa and located at Fairbank, where
they remained several years and then
removed to Oelwein, where he resided
until his death, which resulted from
congestion of the lungs. He was a
consistent and devoted member of the
Baptist church for 31 years, and was
universally respected as a man of integrity
and moral worth. He was energetic
and industrious, an obliging
neighbor and a good citizen, by whose
death the community suffers a great
loss. A wife and two children, A. J.
Johnson and Mrs. F. Zimmerman, survive
to mourn his departure. They
have the sympathy of their friends in
their affliction. The funeral services
were conducted Friday at 2 o'clock
from the Baptist church, by Rev.
Shaw, of Fairbank.
