Mrs. Ora Blaisdell Johnson Hockings 1872 - 1945

Mrs. Ora Hockings was born in Howard Lake, Minn. on
April 23, 1872 and entered into rest in Oelwein on
July 21, 1945. She was baptised in the Church of Christ
in Howard Lake as a small girl and transferred her
membership to the local church in 1905.
She was united in marriage to Clinton D. Blaisdell on
July 3, 1889 and to this union ten children were born,
five dying in infancy. Her oldest son, William D. paid the
supreme sacrifice in World War I on September 18, 1918
and the second son, Howard D., who served in the Navy
during World War I, was killed in an auto accident on
July 22, 1922.
On Oct 4, 1921 she was united in marriage to A. L.
Hockings; he preceded her in death in 1939.
She was a charter member of the local V. F. W. Auxiliary
and a Gold Star Mother. The local V. F. W. post was
named in honor of her son, William D.
Funeral services were held from the First Church of
Christ with Rev. D. Kermit Pugh officiating and she was
laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery beside her sons.
