"There is a reaper whose name is
death." We have to chronicle another
death this week, that of Mrs.
Shadle, who has been residing on East
Charles street for several months past.
She was born in Missouri in 1857?. In
the early 6O's, during the war of the
rebellion, the family moved north, and
for the past twenty-two years, up to
last spring, the family resided in the
vicinity of Manchester. She was the
mother of thirteen children, nine of
whom are still living, one of them being
Will Shadle,employed in Cadwell's
barber shop. Mrs. Shadle had been
in poor health for the past six months
being afflicted with some organic disease,
which gradually undermined
her system, causing death. The funeral
services were held from the residence
Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Ross,
of the Christian church, officiating.
The remains were laid to rest in the
Oelwein cemetery. Those present
at the funeral, from abroad, were
T. J. Shadle and wife, of Manchester,
Mrs. Geo. Ainsworth, of Anamosa;
Miss Olive Shadle, of Le Mars; and
Jas. Shadle and Abner Shadle, of
Anamosa.
