Following is the obituary of Mrs. George Rohrig who
passed away in her home south west of town Wednesday
evening. Mary Elizabeth Rohrig, daughter of Jacob and
Dora Rohrig was born near Solon, Johnson county, Iowa
Dec. 31, 1870. At the age of eleven years she moved with
her parents to Buchanan Co. where she spent the
remainder of her life. She was taken sick in October and
suddenly worse on Sunday and passed away Wednesday,
January 13 at the age of 55 years and 13 days. She was
united in marriage November 12, 1891 to Mr. George
Rohrig of Kansas. This union was blessed with five
daughters and three sons, namely Ida, Mrs. Mabel Eschen,
Clara, Elva, Harley, Harold, Clifford and Marie all at home
except Mrs. Eschen living near Stanley. Mrs. Rohrig was
united with the Lutheran church in her youth and taught
her childreen the christian faith, always looking for the
welfare of others. Besides the sorrowing husband and
children she leaves to mourn three brothers and two
sisters; father, mother, three brothers and one sister
preceded her in death. The funeral services were held
from the home January 15, 1926 at 1:30 o'clock conducted
by Rev. Foote of Hazleton. She was laid to rest in the
Stanley cemetery.
